Symbolic Opening to photo festival Sep / 15 / 2012
A Year ago No one expect Aleppo will be a war zone , no one from the Aleppians imaged the city of Aleppo will have one of the much worse war story , because of the size of the city and the number of the many kind ethnics in the city , A few days before Situation in Aleppo become from bad to worse ,also today the war come into the middle of Heart of the city of Aleppo , its was not just hard decision to go on with the photo festival , but also was impassable for following reasons :

1 – most of month of August and beginning of September all the city was with out any kind communication ( for more then 25 days ) even with each other and with outside also , Mobile and Internet become old story , even to now , some part of the city are with out Internet services , which make impassable to send invitation by emails .For keeping minimum contact with the Artist , My assistant Victoria , she did a good work from Armenia to keep in contact with Artists and try to sending all information to Syria later , which take really long time with miss understanding some time , because of the distant .

2 – Post office not working long time ago in the city and between the city’s , which make a few Artist Exhibitions to not arrived in Time .

3 – Most of the City shops are close including frame s workshops and many print House we work with them

4- we can not rich any one to have the festival center ( Electricity Building ) or any other locations

5 – the demography of the city changed , most of the people who left there home around Aleppo , only small part of them go to Turkey , majority all moved step by step into the center of the city , which make a Big Humans problems , changing all those peoples Address , make very hard for us to contact many of the festival visitors .

Maybe you will ask me After all , why is very necessary to make a Symbolic opening at lest ??

Today at opening ,people was relax , and happy …

We did a Symbolic opening , because my Gallery is a small gallery , we show only 40 Photos from originally number 870 art works , we supposed to show all in the Electricity Building .

Today the festival give a message to all , which is : what ever happened in Syria , the photo festival will not stop , every September 15 , it’s our Date to meet the internationals and Arabs Artist Art works together , with the Syrian audience .

the festival give another message of surviving of civil society, which become reality because of the Global Artists and Friends of the festival Supporter , even if they was not part from the festival this year .

To now Photo festival its only big internationals meeting space still working in the Country , together with Art Camping .


What next : I will wait a few day to see what direction going the crazy situation in the city , if its become nicer I still hope to show the festival all in Big opening , but its seem hard for the moments , Digital Festival it’s the other option Now , with small show here and there to the end of the last photos we have , you will see all works in the web page and Face book coming days if the internet help .
